Ke’e Lagoon – Good swimming and snorkeling in the lagoon area. Facilities. Stay inside the reef and be aware of strong currents in the channel during periods of high surf. Follow Hwy. 56 north to the end of the road to Haena. Try to find a parking spot!

Tunnels Reef – Very picturesque beach with snorkeling and some good swimming. No facilities. Beginners stay inside and on top of the reef. The outer reef (lava tubes) is for experienced snorkelers only. Take Hwy. 56 past Hanalei. Park at the side of the road past the YMCA camp, and walk to the beach through the trees. If you pass the dry cave, you have gone too far.

Anini Beach Park – A long stretch of lovely beach with park facilities and some nice swimming and snorkeling. Beware of strong currents during period of high surf. DO NOT SNORKEL HERE IN THE WINTER MONTHS. Take Hwy. 56 north past Kilauea. Turn right on Kalihiwai Rd. past the long bridge. Turn left onto Anini Rd. and follow it down (@ 3 miles) to the beach area. The road is a dead end.

Lydgate Park – Family beach park with facilities and the famous "Kamalani Playground", which was built by the community…truly a work of art! The rock wall-protected lagoon is an excellent place for children and beginning snorkelers. Turn off of Hwy. 56 onto Leho Rd. between Lihue and Wailua, near the Holiday Inn, and follow it down to the beach park.

Poipu Beach Park – Nice, family beach with facilities. The beach is great for all sorts of activities including good snorkeling, swimming, boogie boarding and surfing. The snorkeling is best to the right of the cove. Exit Hwy. 5o onto Hwy 520 to Koloa. Take Poipu Rd. south from Koloa and turn right on Hoowilli Rd. to the beach.
