Since 1988 Captain Harry has always delivered the best bang for your buck. He operates a 41-foot Pacifica, comfortable, stable and safe. Departing out of Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor on the East Shore. In the past few years operating costs, especially fuel costs, have risen dramatically and unfortunately continues to increase quite rapidly. Most charter vessels run on diesel fuel, which traditionally has been lower in cost compared to gasoline. However in today's world, diesel has also dramatically increased in price, sometimes surpassing the price of gasoline. Despite these higher costs, Captain Harry has held off on raising his rates. However, they can no longer continue to absorb the higher costs. Mahalo for your kind patronage and understanding of these changes.

Effective March 15, 2008 Rates will be increasing :(
$625.00        1/2 day (4 hours) exclusive fishing charter (6 pax maximum)
$150.00         for each additional hour desired
$150.00         per head (2 pax minimum) for 2 hour whale watching

Captain and Owner, local boy Harry has fished all his of life in Hawaii. He has been deep-sea fishing since 1975. Captain Harry has won various tournaments in Kauai and Oahu. He acquired his captain’s license in 1979 and has been fishing recreationally and commercially since that time. As a combat helicopter pilot in Vietnam, he was the recipient of two Distinguished Flying Crosses. Utilizing his flying experience he spent eight years crop dusting the sugar fields in the State and then started helicopter flight seeing tours on the Island of Kauai along with Napali Coast snorkeling adventures. He has turned his passion for fishing into one of the best fishing experiences on Kauai.

CAROLE, Wife of Captain Harry is also a licensed captain who likes to tag along when she is not working at her full-time position with the Department of Homeland Security.

Harry specializes in Private Charters and the current rate is $625.00 for 1-6 anglers. This rate is for a half day charter. Children and spectators who do not plan to fish are welcome aboard at no charge (please give them advance notice on spectator count); however the client must be mindful of the water conditions that we fish in with 2-4 foot seas being normal. Please email Lilikoi if you are interested in a longer charter.  They generally do not book for more than 4 hours, but if a customer wants to stay out longer and feels confident that they can handle the water conditions for the day, there may be an additional fee. There is now 6% assessed to cover Taxes & Fees.
They offer ONLY private exclusive charters which are affordable.

About The Happy Hunter II
The vessel is a 41-foot Pacifica built in 1980. It is powered by twin Detroit 671’s that are turbocharged and supercharged, generating 410 horsepower each.

A Northern Light genset provides AC power to drive their air conditioning system, microwave, stove and 2 DVD screens on board. This vessel has had only three owners and has never been used for charter work until Harry purchased it in the summer of 2004. At that time it only had 1,800 hours on its engines and was acquired in pristine condition. All systems on board are in operational order. Ask to see their engine compartment. This is the life and soul of any vessel and a spotless environment will give an insight as to how well the vessel is maintained. Engine and systems logbooks are meticulously maintained. Safety is their biggest priority.

A fully enclosed cabin area provides environmentally controlled comfort; shielding you from harsh sunlight or drizzling rain. A fly bridge that can accommodate 4 passengers comfortably is also enclosed for protection.

Two full heads with a hot and cold fresh water shower system, and terrific kitchen setup compliments their cabin area.

Joe Gallagher Spearfish ~ Courtesy of Captain HarryEquipment
They are equipped with Shimano Tiagra 2 speed reels in 30, 50, 80 and 130 pound classes for heavy tackle. Medium tackle consists of Penn level wind systems and Shimano TDL systems. Ultra light tackle, although not recommended, are available upon request. You are also welcome to bring your own tackle and gear.

The bridge is equipped with a horizon UHF radio for emergency and ship to ship communication, a CB radio for ship to ship, a standard horizon GPS Plotter system, a Furuno fish finder and depth recorder capable of putting out 3000 watts of power and an interface forward scanning fish finder; along with an Alpine stereo, CD, MP3 player throughout the vessel round out their electronics systems. A state of the art Simrad autopilot system is also installed.

Their friendly and knowledgeable captains emphasize the spirit of ALOHA and hospitality that Hawaii is known for. Their mission is to provide the best possible fishing experience in the most comfortable surroundings. They troll and bottom fish for great eating fish as well as the great gamefish like, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Tuna, Dolphin, Amberjack and more!

The boat is fully equipped and all you have to bring is food and drinks if you want them. They are family and 1st timer friendly. They'll show you how the equipment works and how to catch fish. If you are a seasoned fisherman, then you will enjoy the professionalism of our crew.

Tournamant Fishing ~ Courtesy of Captain Harry Fish Policy:
The boat reserves the right to the catch.  They are more than happy to share a portion of the catch with the client however they are not able to give them all of the fish.  One of the reasons that they  can offer such a reasonable exclusive rate is that they are able to catch fish and sell it.  You must keep in mind that for this reason, they have a greater incentive to catch fish than a charter boat that is out with 6 or more anglers on board.

Departure Times:
During the summer they like to depart early; usually 6 or 6:30 a.m. as the sun rises early.  They usually depart at 7:00 a.m. in the winter when the days are shorter.  However, as these are all exclusive charters, the departure times can be adjusted to suit your needs but remember that the Captain makes the call on how early the fish are biting.

Lilikoi,
Molly and I had a wonderful time in Hawaii.  Despite Molly getting seasick, fishing with Captain Harry was the best deep sea fishing I've ever experienced.  I have been out before in Mexico and Florida but had yet to catch a fish.  With Harry, I caught a 20# yellowfin tuna (ahi) and a 60+# shortbill spearfish that will be going on the wall some time next year.  Harry and the first mate were both knowledgeable and helpful and when Molly became sick, they were very sympathetic and kind.  We cut the trip short so she could get back on land but on the way back we caught the spearfish so it worked out well.  Thank you for recommending Capt. Harry! Sincerely, Matt Hewitt

Mahalos-Feedback: Aloha, Lilikoi! We had a wonderful vacation on Kauai! It was hours of relaxation punctuated by the exciting excursions you arranged for us. You had asked for pictures. Check this out...Janet caught the biggest fish on our charter with Explore Kauai Sportfishing -- a beautiful yellowfin tuna. The crew was extremely patient with us as newcomers to the sport of deep sea fishing (and, thankfully, so were other 4 anglers who we had never met before that morning). The captain from Explore Kauai Sportfishing, gave us a portion of one of the skipjack tuna caught during out trip.  We bought a bag of charcoal, some bread and vegetables, and cooked it at Lydgate Park. That may have been our most memorable meal! Once again, mahalo for all your help. Bob and Janet Lefevre

Offering charters from Anini beach, located on the north shore of Kauai.  The Napali coast is only a few miles away, and Kilauea lighthouse in view, this is an experience of a lifetime. Captain "Honeybear" Bob will troll with lures, live bait, dead bait, as well as bottom fish to hook that fish for you, and they share the catch.  If you fly fish, bring your rods and your favorite flies they'll do the rest. Big game like Marlin, Ahi (yellow fin tuna), Mahi-mahi (dorado), and Ono (Wahoo), to bottom fish like Ulua (trevalle 20-40lb), Amber Jack (10-50lb), Grey Snapper (10-20lb-one of the best eating fish), their goal is for you to catch a fish, and go home happy.

Brand New 2005 34' Power Catamaran "Sea Breeze"
Maximum of six anglers. They provide the gear, lures, ice, and soft drinks (B.Y.O.B).

4 Hour Shared  ~ $125.00 (per person)
Half Day Exclusive ~ $1000.00 (up to 8 people)
No pro-rated exclusive.

They like to fish for a half day primarily so you will need to make special arrangements with the Captain for a longer trip and price will be quoted then. They fish during the Fall, Winter and Spring but during our Summer months there's a big demand for NaPali cruises out of the North Shore.
