Introducing the latest option: A True Hawaiian Experience
Sleeping Giant Trails
Nounou East (4 hours) – No Minimum on this tour! - $85 ea.
This is a strenuous round-trip hike up the “right side” of the giant.  The trailhead has a parking lot in the Wailua House lots at the top of Haleilio road.  The hike begins in a wooded area next to the water pumping station for the local community and continues up the mountain through alternating tree covered and exposed switchbacks.  One section of the trail has collapsed requiring hikers to “scramble” up an eight foot landslide to the trail above.  The views of The Giant become more breathtaking the closer one gets to the top.  There are several photo opportunities with views of the ocean at the top picnic area.  The optional final ascent to the head of the Giant, with a couple more sections of scrambling, affords rare sweeping views of the entire East side of Kauai including Wailua valley, the Lihue basin, north to Anahola and Southwest towards Kalaheo.  On a clear day we will also have an excellent view of Mt. Waialeale.
Nounou West (3.5 hours) – Minimum of 2 people - $85 ea.
This hike is the quickest way to the top of the Sleeping Giant.  Even though this trail is shorter than the Eastern approach, it is just as strenuous because it is uphill (increasingly steeper) all the way to the top.  This is either a one-way trip beginning off the side of highway 581 in a residential area then down the Nounou East trail to the water pumping station, or round-trip going up and down the same trail.  Once the ascent becomes steeper we will hike through a peaceful forest consisting of dense stands of various types of guava, Norfolk pines, Kukui nut trees, and various other local trees.  As we make our ascent up the left side of the Giant you will be afforded beautiful views of the Wailua Valley to the North, and the Lihue basin to the West, with the cloud enveloped mountains as back drop.  Once we reach the top picnic area there are several photo opportunities with views of the ocean.  The optional final ascent to the head of the Giant, with a couple more sections of scrambling, affords a rare sweeping views of the entire East side of Kauai including Wailua valley, the Lihue basin, North to Anahola and Southwest towards Kalaheo.  On a clear day we will also have an excellent view of Mt. Waialeale.
Kuamo’o Lookout (1 to 2 hours) – No Minimum on this tour! - $65 ea. (Kids under 12 ok! $35 ea.)
This is the mini version of the Kuamo’o tour that goes to the picnic area at the Kuamo’o lookout (only about 1.5 miles round trip.)  There are still excellent views of Mt. Waialeale and the Wailua river valley, not to mention the Makaleha Mountains and Anahola mountains.  The round-trip trail crosses Opaekaa stream by way of a long foot bridge and passes through a dense guava grove with plenty of other plants and birds to spot.  Anyone of any age and endurance level can attempt this tour with little concern.
Keahua Forestry Arboretum Trails
Kuilau Ridge tour (3 hours) – No Minimum on this tour! - $75 ea.
Kuilau will be an easier trail for those people who want to see some beautiful sites, learn some things, but are not necessarily able to do a “hard core” experience.  Anybody can climb this muddy uphill (on the way up) and back down the way we came.  Most of the trail is covered by a canopy of a variety of local trees, some of them ancient and immense.  On a rare clear day we will see Mt. Waialeale with the Lihue basin in the distance to the Southeast, and even glimpses of the North side of The Sleeping Giant.  We will also have a close-up view of the Makaleha Mountains, especially the Southwest face of Kapehua’ala.
Moalepe inclusion (4+ hours) - Minimum of 4 people - $95 ea.
This tour addition is for people who want more of a challenge, and to see more of the area around Kuilau ridge.  This will be a one way trip up the Kuilau trail and down Moalepe trail.  The added views of Kapaa and the ocean in the distance are exceptional.
Interior Trek Tour (6+ hours) – Private tours only (minimum of 4 people) – No children under 14
This is a hard core trip!  10+ miles one-way, of rugged terrain beginning in the rain forests at the top of the Wailua river valley then on up to the base of the Makaleha mountains and finally “down the hill” to Princeville.  The trail generally follows the power lines connecting the North shore to the power grid of the island (known as Power-line Trail.)  The first 4 miles or so are almost totally uphill through the beautiful forests above the Wailua river valley drainage with Uhau Lole stream to the Southwest and Keahua stream to the Northeast.  On your way up this side of the trail a clear day will afford excellent views of Mt. Waialeale (the center of the Garden Island) to the west and the Makaleha Mountains to the East.  The last 6 miles or so are up and down, generally declining elevation on the rain beaten and sun bleached plateau above the Hanalei river valley.  This is a tour that few will attempt because of its difficulty but you will be rewarded with scenery that few have ever seen.
Koke’e State Park Trails
Na Pali Rim Tour (6+ hours) – Private tours only (Minimum of 6 people) – No children under 14
This is a hard core trip!  10+ miles one-way, of rugged terrain down the Nualolo trail across the 2000 foot cliffs of the Na Pali coast, and back up Awa’awapuhi trail.  The change in elevation is around 2000 feet so expect to huff and puff your way through this tour.  Be prepared to get muddy, and to have sore thighs the next day.  The views of the Na Pali coast make this tour completely worth the effort, not to mention all of the endemic species of plants and birds that can not be seen on any other tour of the island.  This is a tour that few will attempt because of its difficulty but you will be rewarded with scenery that few have ever seen outside of a helicopter.
