Slingshot-battle, is the name given to nose of the Sleeping Giant, Puni, who lay down to rest after helping build Kukui heiau.

The-house-of-Kawelo, is the home of a shark that killed anyone daring enough to swim in the ocean at the river mouth.

Needle, a fabulous lizard, lived in a cave and collected all the precious gems on the island.  Then he left Kaua'i taking all his jewels with him.

Fiery-hot-bird, is a cave where the 'alae bird who had the secret of fire lived.  The demigod Maui forced it to give up its secret.

Wailua-nui-a-ho-'ano, Great-sacred-Wailua, was settled by voyagers from the Marquesas Islands.  Earlier settlers had built temples here.  The banks of the lower Wailua River has always been considered sacred grounds and was the home of the high chiefs of Kaua'i.  Wailua's legends reflect a thousand years of history.
