Come for the Race, stay for
the Paradise
Dean Karnazes, otherwise known as the
Ultra Marathon Man will be returning for his 3rd year as official host
of the 2011 Kauai Marathon. Many know Karnazes as the man who ran
50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days finishing with the world-famous New
York Marathon.
Besides being known as a celebrated
endurance athlete, he has also written best selling books on health and
wellness, as well motivated thousands around the world at speaking engagements
focusing on the importance of exercise and a good diet. Times Magazine
recently rated him #27 in Worlds Most Influential People.
Bart Yasso will return for his 2nd
year as the Co-host of the event. As the Chief Runner of
Runners World magazine, Yasso brings a depth of knowledge to The Kauai
Marathon.
He has run races on all seven continents
and recently released a book aptly
titled My Life on the Run.

The swim course is in protected
Kalapaki Bay fronting the beautiful Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach
Club. The bike course is 6 mile two or four lap loop with a
number of hills and turns and has a criterium feel to it, testing riders
technical skills. The run course is the jewel leg, run almost
entirely on the perimeter of the Kauai Lagoons Golf Club along shaded lanes
and showcasing awesome vistas. Race proceeds benefit Swim Kauai Aquatics
