Hidden Beauty at Kipu

Kipu Ranch is a 3,000 acre property extending from the Huleia River to the top of Mt. Haupu. It is home to many movie sites and wildlife! The ranch has seen many changes through the years from a sugar plantation to the working cattle ranch it is today. Kipu Ranch is also a private ranch and not accessible to the general public. Ride through the ranch on your very own ATV or kick back, relax and take a ride on one of our passenger vehicles! Let this vendor share some of Kauai's hidden beauty with you and your family.

The 4 Hour Waterfall ATV tour is a favorite for those who like to swim in secluded streams and falls. The spring-fed waterfalls on Kipu Ranch are private areas that only you will see. The waterfall ATV tour has some of the more challenging terrain and incredible diversity in views. There are some short hikes up and down steep uneven ground to get to the falls, so you should be in reasonably good shape for this tour. You will see some of Kauai's movie locations, beautiful views, Hawaiian wildlife and historical sites. This is a great camera adventure that you will always remember!

Your tour begins at the Ranch entrance, a tunnel of Cook Pines planted over 100 years ago, then crosses the ranch following what was once the railroad. The routes may vary. Your views change with every turn as time flies by.  Sights include movie scenes from the Raiders of the Lost Arc, Outbreak, Six Days and Seven Nights, Mighty Joe Young, Hook, Jurassic Park and more.  Delight in the array of Flora ... fruits like mango, guava, strawberry guava, papaya, rose apple, breadfruit and Java plum.  There are several varieties of lilikoi (passion fruit), berries, coffee patches, fern grottos and bamboo forests.  You will also see many Hawaiian medicinal plants along the way. In addition, you will see hundreds of head of Hereford, Angus and Brangus cattle, there are wild pigs, pheasant, Nene geese, Koloa ducks, turkeys, African egrets and more.  There will be photo opportunities galore ... magnificent vistas, tropical forests, winding rivers, valleys and panoramic views from mountain tops like Kipu Kai, Kipu, Haiku and Lihue Basin.

The 3 hour "Ranch Tour" is a very popular tour. After instruction and some practice time you embark on an exciting journey through the diverse landscape and history that makes Kipu one of the top eco-tours in the state of Hawaii today. You will be provided with drinks and snacks as well as helmets, goggles and bandannas. This is a great event for beginners or experienced riders.

ATV Machine Descriptions 2007

ATV
The new Honda AT 400 is their choice for the best ATV available for this kind of terrain and tour. The powerful 400cc engine gets you up the steep mountain trails and the fully automatic transmission makes it easy to operate. The AT 400 also has push-button on/off select 4-wheel drive for the slippery spots on our tours. The lower ground clearance wide wheelbase makes this machine more stable that the smaller ATVs that many companies use for their tours. You must be at least 16 years old to operate an ATV. 16 to 18 will need a parent's signature and you must have a valid picture ID for proof of age. We do check for ID and make no exceptions.

RHINO
The 660cc Yamaha Rhino is the most comfortable ride they have for 2. A favorite for riding double, this 2 passenger side-by-side seating ATV is awesome. Fully automatic transmission with on/off select push button 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel independent suspension makes this machine all ATV but drives like a car. Bucket seats and a steering wheel makes this Rhino simple to drive and safer than an ATV. Book ahead - the Rhinos almost always book up early. This is a good parent/child vehicle, but the driver must be 21 and related to underage passengers.

RHINO “SAFARI”
The 660cc Yamaha Rhino is the most comfortable ride they have for 3-4. A favorite for families, this 4 passenger side-by-side seating ATV is awesome. This is a great family vehicle, but the driver must be 21 and related to underage passengers.

“BOMBER”
Check out the Bomber, their newest ATV.  The Bombardier Outlander Max is the premiere 2 person ATV and was chosen “ATV of the Year” by ATV Magazine. Great for couples.  Fully automatic with on/off select 4-wheel drive it provides very comfortable independent suspension.  The passenger enjoys an elevated rear seat with backrest and independent handholds.   Must be 18 to drive or ride as a passenger.

“MULE”
Their guide-driven 4 passenger Kawasaki Mule is great for the kids or for anyone who would rather watch the scenery than the road. The guide is on board and can answer questions along the way. The Mule is also a great way to take pictures on the move. The Mule has front and rear seats that make sure you aren't too crowded. It is still an ATV, so you will get bounced around a bit and get a little dirty (sometimes a lot dirty), and you will still need to wear a helmet. Helmets, goggles and bandanna are provided.  Minimum age 5 or older.

Requirements & Restrictions for both the Waterfall & Ranch Tour:
· Must be 16 years of age to operate ATVs. ID required.
· Passenger vehicles available for children 15 & under or those who prefer not to operate an ATV.
· 2 Mules carry 4 passengers with your Guide (Driver) & possible 2 Mules available that carry 2 passengers & 1 Guide (Driver)

Mahalos-Feedback:  Dear Lilikoi, Thank you for all your help with our activities on our recent trip to Kauai!  We could not have had a better vacation!  Kauai is the most beautiful place I have ever seen, and all the activities were great.  We had a great time on the Kipu Ranch riding the ATVs.  I was a little scared at first, but they were so helpful, and soon I was roaring around like a pro!  Another beautiful, fun day.  And the ranch is a very interesting place, too.  We swung on the rope swing and saw the most beautiful waterfall of our trip.  All in all, we had the best vacation ever, and I want to thank you again for all you did to arrange things for us.  Bob and Sandy Haegele, Prole, Iowa
