Kauai is not an island you want to visit without a rental car reserved in advance f your arrival.

I have lived on Kauai since 1974, and originally arrived on Oahu in 1953. Lucky for me, my mother was born in Honolulu. I was born in China. I visited Kauai for the first time in 1971.  My ancestors were the first group of plantation workers who came to work in the plantations in Kohala, on the Big Island. My Great Grandfather eventually moved to Honolulu and opened up a coffee stand for 5 cents a cup. He complained to King Kalakaua that the royal guards at Iolani Palace were not paying him. Happy to report that the kind King got most of them to pay up! I am full Chinese, but feel very Hawaiian. I love Kauai today as much as I did back in 1974. You will fall in love with it too! I have 4 grown adult children (they aren't children anymore but guess they will always be my children, and a very supportive husband. I got a grand baby in 2010! I have a date with my husband every Saturday and often we add a bonus Friday night. Sometimes I am taking a walk with Kiwi (our 5 year old 1/4 English Pit & 3/4 White Lab) or she does the treadmill :). Kiwi is a service dog, a good samaritan, and a certified pet visitor at the Garden Island Long Term care unit at our local hospital and the Wilcox Adult Day Care in Lihue. Sadly she had to be on sabbatical for most of this year. The vets are still unsure what is wrong with her but she is doing better as of 10/29/11.

I learned to swim in August 2008 so currently swim as much as possible at the YMCA so if not in my office ... I am underwater exercising my body and brain, all the while calming my senses. Caring for myself helps me care for you even better. Caring for others is just a way we give back to those in need. If you can't wait, I understand completely and apologize for missing you.
